The Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is a government organization established in 1985 under an Act to develop and promote the export of scheduled products. It provides financial assistance, guidelines, and information to support the growth of these scheduled products in international markets.

 

Under the APEDA Act, exporters of scheduled products must register under APEDA to legally export their products.

 

Objectives of APEDA

DOCUMENT REQUIRED

 

To apply for APEDA Registration, the following documents are required:

 

1.  Application Form

  • Completed and duly signed APEDA Registration application form.

 

2.  Import-Export Code (IEC)

  • Copy of the Import-Export Code (IEC) issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).

 

3.  Bank Certificate

  • A Bank Certificate duly signed by the concerned bank authorities verifying the firm’s account details.

 

4.  Bank Account Statement

  • Account statement of the firm’s bank account for the last two months.

  • The applicant must submit an application form to register under APEDA within one month from the date of starting their export business.
  • If the exporter fails to register within this timeline, they must provide a valid reason for the delay, and the concerned authority may extend the deadline.

 

Step-by-Step Process for APEDA Registration

  • Fill out the APEDA Registration Application Form completely and ensure it is duly signed
  • Attach all mandatory documents, including:
    ✔  Import-Export Code (IEC) issued by DGFT.
    ✔  Bank Certificate signed by the concerned authorities.
    ✔  Bank Account Statement for the last two months.

 

Step 2: Payment of Registration Fee

  • Pay the requisite APEDA registration fee online via net banking, credit card, or debit card.

 

Step 3: Verification & Approval

  • The APEDA authorities will verify the application form and submitted documents.
  • If there are any discrepancies, the application may be reverted for corrections.

 

Step 4: Issuance of Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC)

  • Once the application is approved, the Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) is issued.
  • This is a one-time registration, and the registered exporter must comply with the rules and regulations under the APEDA Act.

Every person exporting scheduled products related to agricultural and processed food products is required to have APEDA registration. The person needs to apply for registration before the expiration of one month from the date of entering into export transaction. However, the department has discretion to extend the time limit on genuine cases. On successful scrutinizing of the application and payment of fees, the department issue the Registration cum Membership certificate (RCMC). The registration once done is valid for life time unless revoked by the department. The exporter is required to furnish without fail monthly returns of exports including Nil returns to the registering Authority by the 15th dayof the month following the month of export.
