General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).

 

Minimum Turnover Requirement

  • The applicant must have a minimum turnover of ₹2.5 lakhs for the previous financial year.

 

Business Premises & Storage Facilities

  • The exporter or manufacturer must have a permanent place of business and adequate storage facilities for spices.

 

Infrastructure & Quality Control

  • The applicant must have the necessary infrastructure, technical expertise, and quality control systems to ensure the production of high-quality spices.

 

Compliance with Food Safety Standards

The applicant must comply with food safety and quality standards prescribed by the Spices Board of India.

Adherence to Spices Board Guidelines

  • The applicant must agree to follow the procedures and guidelines established by the Spices Board for spice export or manufacturing.
To apply for Spice Board Registration, the following documents are required:

 

1. Bank Report

  • Confidential Report from the applicant’s main bank in the format prescribed by the Spices Board.

 

2. Import Export Code (IEC)

  • The applicant must provide a valid Import Export Code (IEC) issued by the Director General or Joint Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
  • The DGFT office nearest to the business location issues this IEC.

 

3. PAN Card & Manufacturer Certification

  • PAN Card – Mandatory for all applicants.
  • Small Scale Industry (SSI) Certificate – If the applicant is registering as a Manufacturer Exporter, they must provide:
    • SSI Certificate or
    • Certificate from the Industries Department designating them as a manufacturer.

Step 1: Online Registration – Spice Board Login

 

Visit the Spices Board of India’s official website for online registration.

 

Complete the Spice Board login by entering the following details:

  • Import Export Code (IEC)
  • Mobile number
  • Email address

After verifying the mobile number and email ID, the applicant will be directed to fill out the online application form.

 

Step 2: Uploading Documents

  • Once logged in, applicants must complete all required fields in the registration form.
  • Important: The IEC Code must be entered correctly, as the Spices Board issues CRES based on IEC details.
  • Upon completion of Part 1 of the application, a unique application number will be generated.
  • The applicant must use this application number to proceed further in the portal.
  • Upload all required documents along with the applicant’s photograph in the specified formats.

 

Step 3: Spice Board Verification

  • After successful submission, the application is forwarded to the respective regional office of the Spices Board for verification.
  • If any discrepancies are found, the application will be reverted for corrections.

 

Step 4: Procurement of Spice Board Certificate (CRES)

  • Once the verification process is successfully completed, the Certificate of Registration as Exporter of Spices (CRES) is issued.
  • The applicant can log in to the Spice Board portal and download the Spice Board Certificate.

After obtaining Spice Board registration, key compliances include submitting quarterly returns using Form B, applying for renewal at least two months before expiry, informing the board of any changes in business premises oroperations, and maintaining export activities to avoid certificate cancellation.

1. Quarterly Returns (Form B):

You are required to submit quarterly returns using Form B.
Failure to comply with this requirement can result in a fine of ₹500.

 

2. Certificate Renewal:

Apply for renewal at least two months before the expiry date of your certificate.
If renewal isn’t sought, the certificate holder must apply for a new certificate instead.
The certificate has a validity of three years.
